The VZ-1 was Casio's first foray into Interactive Phase Distortion synthesis, very similar to Yamaha's FM synthesis. The VZ features 16 voices comprised of eight multiple waveform operators and eight envelope generators. The large display allows visual editing of the voice structure and envelopes. While it never achieves the smoothness of analog, the VZ does have a much softer edge than comparable Yamaha FM synths. |
